Tele Visions

Media Release_You're History_Tele Visions_Draft 130923After nearly sixty years, the most pervasive and dominant media platform we have ever seen will be switched off in Sydney on the 3rd of December 2013.

Tele Visions is a five-day program curated by Alex White and Emma Ramsay that takes the form of a pop-up TV channel (broadcast online and on analog TV) that re-imagines the televisual space.

Every night, a live TV studio will emerge from Carriageworks’ Track 8 to cross-examine the form that defined mass media, like an anarchic wake that bids farewell to the linear monolith that has dominated your lounge room for so long.

From a durational work where two artists sit on a couch for 8 days watching every episode of The Simpsons to video works that “celebrate static”, join us as we celebrate the final days of analog TV through performance artworks interrogating the medium of television.

“In it’s final moments, some of the most charismatic and exciting artists from Australia and the world re-imagine what television might have been,” says Alex White and Emma Ramsay, co-directors of Tele Visions.

Tele Visions is presented as part of You’re History! an electrifying 12-day season of all Australian-made performances celebrating 30 years of Performance Space.
