Driving creativity across Regional Victoria

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley has called on regionally-based artists, creative practitioners, businesses and community members to share their views on how to strengthen creative industries in regional and rural areas.

“Victoria is the creative state – and our creative flair extends well beyond our metropolitan borders,” said Minister Foley. “We want regional and rural towns to help develop a new strategy that aims to grow the creative sector – creating jobs and new opportunities for artists and practitioners.”

The new regional plan follows the release of the Government’s Creative State strategy and will focus on specific opportunities and challenges facing creative industries in regional areas, and set a path for new programs and initiatives.

People are encouraged to provide feedback on the benefits of the creative sector, challenges faced by artists and practitioners and their aspirations for the future. The creative and cultural sectors generate more than $23 billion for the Victorian economy each year.

An online consultation process has been launched through the Creative Victoria website – submissions close on Friday 12 January 2018. For more information, visit: www.creative.vic.gov.au for details.
