After three years leading the artistic program of Brink Productions, Artistic Director Stephen Nicolazzo will conclude his tenure with the company early December 2026.
During his time with Brink Productions, Stephen has worked closely with artists and creative collaborators to develop and present new work, build audiences and extend the company’s reach nationally.
His tenure has included the shepherding of the inaugural First Nations Theatre Fellowship to create sustainable pathways for South Australia’s First Nations Artists and the national tour of Looking for Alibrandi that commenced with the State Theatre SA season in May 2025.
Acting Brink Productions Chair Jack Moore thanked Stephen for his contribution to the company. “Stephen has made a significant contribution to Brink Productions over the past three years, particularly through his commitment to artists and the development of new work. We are grateful for his leadership, the relationships he has built and the opportunities he has created for artists during his tenure,” said Moore.
“The Board is now looking towards the next chapter and will shortly commence the search for a new Artistic Director. We look forward to building on the company’s strong foundations and continue to support ambitious, distinctive and artist-led work.”
Stephen Nicolazzo said it had been a privilege to lead the company and work alongside its artists, staff and supporters. “After three years, my time as Artistic Director of Brink Productions will come to an end in December,” said Nicolazzo.
“I’m proud of what we have built together, particularly the relationships I’ve developed with South Australian artists and the opportunities we’ve created to develop new work, take risks and find pathways onto stages in South Australia and beyond.:
“I’m especially proud of the First Nations Fellowship, established with the support of CreateSA, and of the extraordinary artists and work that have emerged through it. The Fellowship has created a sustained pathway for First Nations artists to develop ambitious new work, with its impact extending well beyond my time here.”
“I’m deeply grateful to the artists, staff, collaborators, audiences, supporters and Board for the opportunity to lead Brink during this period. It has been a significant chapter in my career, and I wish Brink and its next Artistic Director all the very best, and I’m looking forward to what comes next,” said Nicolazzo.
The Board will commence the recruitment process for a new Artistic Director in September, with the company seeking a full-time, Adelaide-based artistic leader to guide Brink Productions into its next chapter.
Brink Productions will continue to work with artists, partners and collaborators over the coming months to support the transition and ensure continuity across existing projects and commitments.
