Who is Jenn Blake?
A queer parent and a curator and producer of queer and contemporary art.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
Ride a bike. I actually went on a date with my wife recently and we rode those “MoBikes” and it was so fun. I think you actually do forget how to ride a bike, you definitely forget how fun it is!
Who inspires you and why?
I think the space between wanting to do something and actually doing something is a large divide. Those that can move themselves to cross that divide to be active are extraordinary.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Get Safe Schools Curriculum into schools.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
I love a beach holiday. I think it’s somehow attached to nostalgic childhood memories and a love of building sandcastles.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Marrickville Markets. Living in the inner west, I find that Addison Road Community Centre creates such a great space for the community, especially families. It really feels like a space that welcomes everyone. Also the best cup of Chai in Sydney.
What are you currently reading?
Possum Magic.
What are you currently listening to?
Esther Perel – Where do I begin and WYNYC’s Nancy Podcasts.
Happiness is?
My wife and my kids, my work, watching the swans play at the SCG, campfires, and swimming in the ocean.
What does the future hold for you?
Teenagers.
Jenn is the Artistic Director of the inaugural queer contemporary arts festival for families, Fambo – which will be held on Saturday 29 September from 10.00am at 107 Redfern. For more information and program, visit: www.fambo.com.au for details.
