On the Couch with Jens Radda

Jens Radda AAR On the CouchWho is Jens Radda?
Jens is a singer, drag artist, actor, and producer who allegedly calls Melbourne home but in reality, he’s too busy sprinkling camp magic across the globe. With his hit shows Skank Sinatra, Madame Martha’s Parisian Cabaret, and The Cabaret Hour, he’s lighting up stages everywhere, one dazzling performance at a time. Alongside his onstage (and off-stage) partner Iva Rosebud, Jens is shaking up the Australian cabaret scene with show-stopping productions, soaring vocals, and just the right amount of mischief.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Journal more.

Who inspires you and why?
Bette Midler’s ability to constantly smile even when it’s inappropriate.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I’d introduce a three-day work week. People need more time for family, friends, and the things they love. And if their passion is their work, like being a drag queen, well – nothing’s stopping them from voluntarily clocking in for extra days!

Favourite holiday destination and why?
The Sunshine Coast where my family lives. My sister Mia has just taken up surfing and I can’t wait to watch her from the safety of the sand. I’ll talk business with my mum then go to Parkrun with my dad.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
A wine bar in Fitzroy, because nothing says ‘culture’ like over-analyzing a $17 glass of Shiraz while sitting on a milk crate.

What are you currently reading?
The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. I’m an extremely fun dinner party guest, if you couldn’t tell.

What are you currently listening to?
Every geo-political podcast that exists.

Happiness is?
In bed with Iva Rosebud’s tradie brother, Lachie.

What does the future hold for you?
Touring shows, writing campy showgirl big-band songs, acting in a short film, writing dreamy ballads, journaling.
