Boasting some of the world’s most spectacular and death-defying acts, ZIRK! Circus – The Big Top Spectacular has arrived in Sydney pitching their brand new Big Top at The Showring, Moore Park, ahead of a national tour.
Handpicked from among the best circus entertainers around the world, Zirk! creates a new genre of show that blends some of the world’s finest circus traditions with the new – allowing the skill of the performers to speak for themselves.
Each act is highly polished and provides many jaw-dropping moments from the Catwall Trampoline Troupe – where five performers navigate a duo trampoline and a glass wall, through to the Globe of Death featuring the Douglas Gerling Daredevils – as six motorcycles perform with a metal-mesh globe. The Gerling Troupe are also featured in the Double Giant Wheel, that can spin at a furious pace, providing many heart-stopping moments.
Emin Abdullaev will amaze as the weird and wonderous contortionist from Dagestan, Mexican juggler, Juan Pablo Martinez is a delight, and Australian Sascha Williams will have you cheering for more as he builds up his balancing cylinders in Rola Bola.
Cuban Quick Change artists, Sixto and Lucia, and their series of beautiful costumes, will have you asking How do they do that? Blink and you you will miss it, and aerielists, Katya Rubtsova and Anton Markov present one of the most beautifully dangerous acts, fourteen metress in the air.
The Rubtsova Family are well presented in Zirk! forming the backbone of many of the groups acts including the non-stop fast-paced acrobatic action of the Fast Track; only to return with the longest skipping rope you’ll ever seen in a highly dynamic display of jump rope skipping.
Every circus needs a Ringmaster and some great clowns, and Zirk! has some of the best in the world. A graduate of the famed Moscow School of Circus, Stanislav Knyazkov is an accomplished entertainer, who keeps the show running at break-neck speed. He is joined by his trusty sidekick, Vasili Trifonov and Master Clown, Dmitry Shindrov, who entertain in the style of great Russian clowning traditions.
