You’re Not Alone

Malthouse Theatre You're Not Alone Kim Noble - photo by Rob GreigKim Noble wants us to get closer – perhaps a little too close for comfort. You’re Not Alone is Noble’s provocative, moving and darkly comic production that chronicles one man’s attempts at connection, friendship and employment.

After an existential crisis triggered by a colossal breakup, and by the profound loneliness he sees in his father at the end of his life, Noble is on a quest for connection. Using narration, guerrilla video and live reconstruction, Noble takes the audience through a series of hilarious, and often excruciating, social experiments.

He turns up for work at a hardware store where he is not employed, donning a handmade uniform; he blasts porn audio through his roof at the relentlessly bonking couple upstairs; he films his ageing father being cleaned by his nurse and starts online relationships with men, pretending to be a woman.

A unique theatre-documentary maker with his own life as subject, Kim uses a provocative and humourous style to expose the human condition: notions of death, sexuality, gender and religion are picked at with a dry comedic use of tragedy meshed with the ridiculous. You’re Not Alone will be an intimate glimpse into the singular mind of an eccentric genius.

Kim Noble is best known as one-half of Perrier Award-winning, BAFTA-nominated comedy duo Noble and Silver. He has also starred in TV Shows such as The Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy, and Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace.
