Two Sides to Every Cabaret

Stand By Me - Daniele and TashWhat’s better than seeing a five star cabaret? Seeing two on the same night… and for the price of one! For one night only two of Australia’s comedy cabaret darlings bring their critically acclaimed solo shows to Sydney’s Vanguard for a night of laughs, personal truths and a whole lot of wine!

They studied together, they live together and now they’ll tour to Sydney together. Best friends and co-producers Belinda Hanne Reid and Natasha York are coming to The Vanguard presenting a one night only Double Bill of their critically acclaimed 5 star cabarets These Things Take Wine and Ich Bin Ein Belinda.

At their heart, both shows deal with the perils of modern living, but from two very different perspectives. Having worked together on countless projects including The Desperettes and at Australia’s only Vaudeville club Speakeasy HQ, these two cabaret stars are no strangers to an intimate setting.

To kick off the night, Project X Melbourne winner Belinda Hanne Reid (Winners and Losers, Price Check! The Musical) presents Ich Bin Ein Belinda – a hilarious exploration of all the “people who live inside her head”. Meet the drunken Hedonist, the repressed Nice Girl, the misogynistic Man and more as she exposes herself in this tell-all hilarious psychological exposé.

Sell-out Melbourne Cabaret Festival ‘Wine-o’ Natasha York (Impromptunes, Adult Fairy Party) will finish the night with These Things Take Wine – a wine-soaked comedy cabaret with stories of pre-drinks, police encounters, chicken nuggets in bras, hijacking buskers and everything in between.

The music is as fabulous, wild and varied as their friendship, and the shows feature new arrangements by their accompanist Daniele Buatti. No artist or genre is sacred, and with Buatti spinning his magic across tunes by Amy Winehouse, Sia, Michael Jackson and even Nine Inch Nails – there really is something in both of these shows for everyone.
