Tosca

SOSA ToscaExperience the love, lust and betrayal of Puccini’s war-time extravaganza Tosca, as State Opera of SA in association with Adelaide Festival Centre presents this powerful and moving story on stage at the Festival Theatre from 12 – 19 November 2016.

Featuring an incredible all-Australian cast, awe-inspiring sets, sumptuous costumes and some of the most powerful music in opera, the scene is set for almost three hours of drama and action that shine a light on the sacrifices made in the name of love.

Soprano Kate Ladner returns to the Festival Theatre stage as the actress Floria Tosca – a role she was born to play. Her lover, the painter Mario Cavaradossi, will be sung by the golden voiced tenor Rosario La Spina and as his arch nemesis Baron Scarpia, baritone Mario Bellanova once again brings his powerful presence to bear.

“It’s been 16 years since State Opera SA presented this brilliant, visually stunning production on the Festival Theatre stage,” said SOSA CEO and Artistic Director, Timothy Sexton. “Kate Ladner leads a stellar ensemble that bring this famous tale to life.”

“Together with the renowned State Opera Chorus and magnificent Adelaide Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Nicholas Braithwaite, this will be a spell-binding production that will leave audiences enthralled. It’s a rousing celebration which caps off a fabulous 40 year anniversary for State Opera SA.”
