More than a century after the Titanic’s ill-fated maiden voyage, its spellbinding story still resonates globally. Now, Melbourne Museum is proud to announce the arrival of TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition, the most extensive and authentic Titanic exhibition in the world, direct from a sold-out season in Paris.
From 16 December 2023, visitors can explore the tragic and awe-inspiring history of this iconic ship in a one-of-a-kind experience that transports them back to 1912, offering an intimate connection with the Titanic’s past. Exclusive to Melbourne Museum, TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition features more than 200 artefacts recovered directly from the wreck site.
One of the most famous tragedies in modern history, the story of the Titanic and its beleaguered passengers and crew continues to captivate, inspiring countless films, books and songs more than 110 years since it sank to the bottom of the ocean.
Through meticulously recreated ship interiors, including the Grand Staircase, First Class Parlour Suite and Verandah Cafe, combined with real objects rescued from the deep, visitors will gain an unparalleled insight into the compelling human stories of those on board, taking them back to that fateful night.

TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition is coming to Melbourne with support from the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria.
“The tragedy of the Titanic is known around the world, but there are so many personal stories and historic details to uncover through this illuminating exhibition proudly brought to Melbourne Museum with support from the Government,” said Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos.
As visitors receive their boarding passes and step on board, they will bear witness to the human side of the tragedy through the personal stories and possessions of passengers and crew who faced unimaginable circumstances.
They will also reflect on how the legacy of the ‘unsinkable Titanic’ serves as a stark reminder of the unforeseen consequences that can arise from technological progress and take an eye-opening journey through the stark class divisions that existed on the ‘ship of dreams’.
