The Pulitzer Prize-nominated play that took New York by storm, Mockingbird Theatre Company presents Sarah DeLappe’s explosive and exhilarating play, The Wolves, at the Belconnen Arts Centre from 15 October – 1 November 2025.
Directed by Chris Baldock, The Wolves follows nine teenage girls as they warm up for their indoor soccer games. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team navigates big questions and wages tiny battles with all the vim and vigour of a pack of adolescent warriors.
As the teammates warm up in sync, a symphony of overlapping dialogue spills out their concerns. By season’s and play’s end, amidst the wins and losses, rivalries and tragedies, they are tested and ready – they are The Wolves.
Due to the incredible turnout at auditions, there are two casts playing 8 performances each.
The Lupin Cast: Edith Baggoley, Marcelle Brosnon, Catherine Elias, Asha Forno, Io Hogan, Georgia Motto, Anneka Steel, Kara Taylor, Eliza Thomson, and Chloe Smith as Soccer Mum.
The Lycan Cast: Susan Brown, Ainslie Bull, Jayde Dowhy, Eleanor Graham, Zara Huber, Eva Loxley, Jennifer Novesk, Grace O’Mahoney, April Telfer, and Ruth Hudson as Soccer Mum.
Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves is the final Mockingbird Theatre Company’s main stage production of the year, following their critically lauded 2025 productions of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, When The Rain Stops Falling, Meteor Shower and The Drawer Boy.
“The scary, exhilarating brightness of raw adolescence emanates from every scene of this uncannily assured play.” – The New York Times
