Adelaide will unveil a new wonder for the 2023 Adelaide Fringe, in Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga, right in the heart of the city.
The Pyramid is an exciting, state-of-the-art Fringe venue which will be impossible to miss, standing at a whopping 15m – tall (6 storeys high), 25m wide. It will sit inside the new Fringe destination – Fool’s Paradise – alongside sister-venue The Vault.
The brainchild of a South Australian team, The Pyramid is an iconic structure packed with a great program for a seated audience of 350. The venue is one of just a few suited to aerial performances with the full 15m height used by artists and 2023’s inaugural program will see a full range of acts.
One of the Headline acts, Penny Arcade, bringing her new show from the USA says, “I first performed in Adelaide 30 years ago – I just love the audiences there at the Fringe,” she said.
“The Fringe makes us turn away from our screens, brings us back downtown into the city where we meet face to face and share our stories.”
“The Adelaide Fringe reinstates city space and exposes us to new ideas – that’s a critically important and beautiful thing. It’s going to bring Victoria Square alive – and I can’t wait to meet you all there at my show in the Pyramid!” said Arcade.
With more than $1 million in programming from circus through to burlesque, tribute act and live music, The Pyramid adds something fresh and exciting and will completely transform the City’s landscape, bringing much-needed Fringe life back to the middle of the city.
The full program will also celebrate the State’s great food and drink with long-table lunches to make the best of any night out. “Fringe deserves a new star attraction, after recovering better than almost any other festival, worldwide, after Covid,” said Pyramid Director Max Mason.
“The Pyramid will bring a new dynamic, with a jam-packed line-up of more than 20 different shows across the whole Fringe calendar, from 14 February until 19 March,” said Mason.
“Congratulations to the team behind the Pyramid – I can’t wait to walk into the massive structure, it sounds truly amazing,” said Fringe Director Heather Croall.
“It is always exciting to have a new venue arrive on the Fringe scene, and I’m especially thrilled to see Fringe shows happening again in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga – a very important area of the city centre.”
The Pyramid runs from 14 February until 19 March 2023 in Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga. For more information and full program, visit: www.thepyramid.com.au for details.
