Written by one of Australia’s most internationally-produced playwrights, Shalom and Moira Blumenthal Productions presents the Australian premiere of Timothy Daly’s The Man In The Attic at the Eternity Playhouse from 5 July 2018.
The Man in the Attic is the incredible, true story of a Jew who is hidden by a German couple during the Holocaust, but when the War ends, is led to believe that the War had been won… by the Nazis.
Locked inside their attic for his ‘protection’, the Jew has no way of knowing and continues his trade as a jeweller and watchmaker, for the profit of the couple. But as the husband overplays his hand and the wife becomes trapped in a conflict between greed and humanity, the Jew realises that something has changed…
The Man in the Attic was awarded Australia’s most prestigious award for a new play, the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award. It received a Paris season in February 2012 and had a sold out season at the 2013 Festival of Avignon as well as an extra season at Paris’s Théâtre de l’Est. The production made its Italian premiere in December 2015.
Director Moira Blumenthal has assembled a stellar cast and crew to bring this premiere production to the stage including Barry French, Danielle King, Gus Murray and Colleen Cook. Set & Costume Design by Hugh O’Connor, Lighting Design by Emma Lockhart-Wilson and Sound Design by Tegan Nichols.
Timothy Daly is one of Australia’s most internationally-produced playwrights, with a string of national and international productions to his credit.
