The Garden of Unearthly Delights reveals 2016 program

GOUD 2016 PULPSHOW photo by Stillsby HillThe Garden of Unearthly Delights, Australia’s most unique and engaging outdoor performing arts precinct, has announced their program for 2016, with over 100 shows across 13 venues featuring 43 Australian premieres, 1310 ticketed sessions and 31 free events.

The Garden team travel the world year-round to find the very best award-winning shows and the most inventive and exciting new works to present to our audience. Highlights of the 2016 program include the return of the hottest show on the global festival circuit, Velvet – featuring legendary diva Marcia Hines in the best disco party of your life; while artist and author of Wank Bank – the tell-all memoir of a happy ending masseur in New York City, Rural Ranga brings the informative and playful: Wank Bank Master Class.

Massive hit shows have their Australian premieres at The Garden including the high-octane dance show Untapped, Bunk Puppets’ surreal comedy dubbed ‘Wondrous’ by The New York Times, Tink Tank; laugh-out-loud spin on Spielberg’s classic Jurrasic Park, Dinosaur Park; and international mind bender, Colin Cloud.

Massaoke – the Edinburgh Fringe smash hit brings karaoke on mass to Australia for the first time plus world-renowned circus from Casus with their award-winning show, Knee Deep; and Fringe favourite, A Simple Space by Gravity and Other Myths.

Comedy superstars Wil Anderson, Rich Hall (USA), Abandoman (IRE), Dave Hughes, Sammy J and Randy, Sam Simmons, Axis of Awesome, Nazeem Hussain, Chopper’s Republic of Anzakistan, Best of the Edinburgh Fest (UK), Eddie Ifft (USA) and Hannah Gadsby all perform new shows in The Garden in 2016.

This year The Garden presents an incredible music lineup including Colin Hay, Kate Miller Heidke, iOTA, Kate Ceberano, Jo Lawry, Jon Stevens, Z-Star, Russell Morris, The Black Sorrows and Darren Middleton (Powderfinger).

Once again The Garden’s cabaret game is strong with new shows from favourites Puddles Pity Party, Le Gateau Chocolat, EastEnd Cabaret and Adelaide’s own Hans, plus The Garden introduces audiences to the new cabaret queen, Leah Shelton in PULPSHOW.

Families don’t miss out either with a huge program for kids including gown-up entertainers making amazingly fun shows for children including: Children are Stinky by Circus Trick Tease, Heath Franklin and Harley Breen in Captain Fun Pants and The Mystery of the FunOmatic Fun Wand, Frank Woodley with his show Noodlenut, Le Gateau Chocolat’s tale of identity and belonging, Duckie, and Tessa Waters’ How To Be a Rockstar.

As is in tradition, 2016 will host a hoard of exciting brand new artists to The Garden including The Guardian’s First Dog on The Moon, Rowena Hutson with Strong Female Character, Shirley Gnome (CAN), Betty Grumble, Butt Kapinski (USA), Juan Vesuvius in Calypso Nights: Juan, Two? (NZ) and Stuart Bowden.

A place for fun-filled family days and nights bursting with stars, more than 700,000 people visit The Garden every season and its popularity continues to grow every year. This incredible event, with its warm and inviting vintage carnival feel, is admired across the globe and people all over the world have tried to replicate it but The Garden’s heart remains where it all began, here in South Australia.
