The Australian Ballet to celebrate World Ballet Day with exclusive backstage access

TAB-World-Ballet-DayThe Australian Ballet is excited to virtually open its doors once again, as World Ballet Day returns for its tenth year on Wednesday 1 November with more than 60 companies participating across the world.

Presented by The Australian Ballet, Royal Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, World Ballet Day is a global celebration of dance and an opportunity for audiences to see what it takes to be one of the world’s top ballet companies.

Hosted by Channel 9 presenter Livinia Nixon and Senior Artist Jarryd Madden, audiences can enjoy a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of ballet beyond the main stage.

Come inside for morning class, followed by an inside look into rehearsals for productions including Swan Lake, Marguerite and Armand and The Dream.

Insights from the Artistic Health and Education and Outreach teams will also be live streamed, along with an exclusive sneak peek into NT Dance Company’s residency at the Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre.

“For 10 years, World Ballet Day has provided the opportunity to see the beauty of ballet, expressed through the intimate lens of a camera,” said Artistic Director, David Hallberg. “It’s a thrill to virtually open our doors once again to share the fantastic work and dedication of our dancers.”

Senior Artist Jarryd Madden added: “It’s the part of ballet you don’t see when you go to a performance. It shines the light on the creative process behind the magic you see on stage,” he said.

“I’m incredibly excited to host with Livinia for the third year, and I look forward to guiding our audience behind-the-scenes at The Australian Ballet,” said Jarryd.
