Stunt Lounge

MICF Stunt Lounge FFFCBringing to the stage five of the most dynamic and talented new circus performers in Australia, who have recently graduated from the world-famous Flying Fruit Fly Circus, presented as part of the 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Stunt Lounge is their first original work as professional artists at Arts Centre Melbourne from 30 March.

A thrilling mix of heart-stopping circus skills and physical theatre, Stunt Lounge explores the concept of risk in the every-day life of young people, their attraction to danger and their enduring quest to define boundaries around behaviour and actions.

Under the mentorship of Flying Fruit Fly Circus Artistic Director Jodie Farrugia, these five young artists have created a versatile contemporary circus work, co-created and directed by exciting emerging director Darcy Grant. Following eight years as a youth at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus, studying under Chinese and Russian masters, Darcy Grant was a founding member of Circa – now widely revered as one of the world’s most successful and genre defying circuses.

The Flying Fruit Fly Circus (FFFC) is Australia’s National Youth Circus and has introduced over 30,000 young people to circus arts through training programs and workshops. Catering for young people aged 8 to 18, and with a string of Australian and international awards, the Company has toured the world extensively.

Aligning with circus training organisations in China and Moscow to further the skills and experience of the FFFC students, many graduating artists go on to join leading circus and performing arts companies, including Circus Oz, Cirque du Soleil, Circa and many others.

The premiere of Stunt Lounge in Melbourne continues the ongoing collaboration between the Comedy  Festival and Arts Centre Melbourne with the amazing Flying Fruit Fly Circus. No boundaries. No limits. Meet the new circus generation!
