Hot on the success of their sold-out 2022 and 2023 showcase concerts, the QPAC Chamber Choir brings you Studio ’24 – A Disco Choir Experience, a celebration of disco throughout the decades in the Concert Hall on Tuesday 13 August 2024.
This unique show will take you on a musical and cultural journey starting with classic ’70s disco, as heard at the legendary club Studio ’54, through to the dance revolution of the ’80s and ’90s and right up to the latest contemporary disco hits.
Led by QPAC Choral Director Timothy Sherlock, this show features sophisticated choral covers from a range of iconic artists, including Donna Summer, The Bee Gees, Earth, Wind and Fire, Madonna, Prince, Ace of Base, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa and so much more.
“This year’s QPAC Chamber Choir showcase concert will take you on a journey over 50 years in the making,” says QPAC Choral Director Timothy Sherlock. “We will explore the evolution of disco and dance music, from its origins in the underground clubs of 1970’s New York City, right through to the latest disco songs that continue to compel us to the dance floor.”
“Our concert will deliver 90 minutes of pop nostalgia as we investigate just how dance music has interacted with and influenced the socio-political climate of their times. You will hear familiar disco favourites and perhaps discover some new gems along the way.”
