Stuart Black weaves a gripping narrative that explores the lengths to which people will go to protect their fortune, and the high-stakes world of corporate crime that is most often hidden from view.
With its intricate plot and pulse-pounding action, The Signatory takes readers from Sydney to Chicago and back again following millions of missing dollars, a perilous investigation, calculated corruption and ultimately murder.
After selling his start-up business, Sydney ad-man Sam Pride has the money only dreams are made of. Young and married to the love of his life, it’s about time for Sam to enjoy his well-earned affluence and it looks as if he will, that is, until Sam’s chief financial officer, Chaz Bailley is taken hostage by a ruthless criminal demanding a document in his possession.
One brutal murder later and Sam, now the prime suspect, and his wife Lauren go on the run from both the police and a faceless network of conspirators who appear to be connected to the global organization that just bought him out.
After becoming the CEO of four different ad agencies and seeing first-hand how power can be used and abused within the corporate world, Stuart Black is perfectly placed to shine a light on those who take advantage of their position to conceal the type of greedy and ruthless behaviour that is so often left unchecked and unfettered.
Stuart Black worked on the Board of Saatchi & Saatchi London before becoming the founding partner and Group CEO of South-East Asia’s leading healthcare communications group Ward6, which, two years after its inception was named Adnews’ Emerging Agency of the Year.
Alongside his career in advertising, Stuart is the author of two novels. In 2003, he had a manuscript shortlisted for the NSW Writers’ Centre Popular Fiction Competition and in 2009 published the psychological thriller, Shallow Water. Stuart’s second novel? The Signatory, is based on his intimate knowledge of the international corporate world. Stuart is married and has two children.
