Based on Baz Luhrmann’s award-winning worldwide film phenomenon, Strictly Ballroom The Musical comes to Perth’s coolest new theatre for it’s much anticipated live-performance season from 31 May 2023.
Strictly Ballroom the Musical is the inspiring story of a championship ballroom dancer who defies all the rules to follow his heart. This uplifting and courageous tale originated as a stage play that Baz Luhrmann devised with a group of students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) back in 1984.
Ballroom Dance Champion and long-term cast member of the internationally acclaimed productiuon Burn The Floor, Kallyanne Brown is working hard to turn this talented cast of musical theatre performers into credible Ballroom dancers.
Produced and directed by Drew Anthony, in the pivotal roles of ‘Scott Hastings’ and ‘Fran’ is Ethan Churchill and Kate Sisley who lead a stellar Perth-based cast including Jamie Rolton as Doug Hastings, Lisa Adam as Shirley Hastings, Hannah Lucas as Abuela, Alex Graciano as Les Kendall and Robert Hofmann as Barry Fife. Music Supervisor is Joe Louis Robinson, with Musical Direction by Jarrad Van Dort.
