South Australian Film Corporation announces new CEO

Annabelle Sheehan_editorialThe South Australian Film Corporation has announced, screen industry executive Annabelle Sheehan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the South Australian Film Corporation.

Ms Sheehan comes to the SAFC from ScreenWest, where she was Director, Production Investment and Acting Chief Executive – Production.

“Ms Sheehan is bringing more than 25 years experience in the Australian screen industry,” said SAFC Chairman Judy Potter. “Her extensive experience, knowledge and skills will ensure the SAFC continues to build on the success of 2014, and the previous 40 years.”

“Annabelle is highly regarded in the industry and her appointment is fantastic for South Australia. She will continue to build on the reputation of the SAFC, and in particular the recent successes, to benefit the local industry.”

Arts Minister Jack Snelling today welcomed Ms Sheehan’s appointment: “It is great to see someone of Ms Sheehan’s calibre come to South Australia to take on this important role,” he said.

“The SAFC has been a significant contributor to Australia’s screen culture for more than 40 years. Ms Sheehan’s appointment is an exciting new chapter for the corporation.”

Ms Sheehan said she was thrilled to take on the SAFC role: “The South Australian Film Corporation is both an iconic and dynamic institution that has led to South Australia becoming a centre for creative and innovative screen production.

“It is a great privilege to lead the agency at a time of great change and opportunity for the global screen industry.”

From 2003 to 2013, Ms Sheehan was the CEO and Senior Agent at RGM Artist Group (RGM), a major Australian talent agency representing Australia’s leading artists in film, television, theatre and radio. Prior to joining RGM, she was Head of the Film and Television division at The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) for six years.

Ms Sheehan’s film career began in post-production with extensive list of credits, nominations and awards for her work on feature films such as Dead Calm, Mad Max 3, The Piano, Fearless and Portrait of a Lady.
