Decor + Design / AIFF 2022Australia’s most important event for the interior design industry, Decor + Design, has opened with an elevated, fresh look. 9,000+ design trade visitors are expected to attend the event. The 19th edition of Australia’s premier interiors trade event continues to Sunday 16th July at Melbourne Exhibition Centre, with the theme of Elevate.

Highlights include design stars like Akira Isogawa and Brahman Perera, the 20th anniversary of VIVID Emerging Designer Awards and a focus on circular design at an exciting new Green Design Hub.

Atelier Avenue will create a bespoke area for boutique Australian-based artists and designers, supporting smaller and independent studios to reach a wider audience.

Celebrating the best in Australian design
The 2023 Seminar Series will provide serious inspiration! Meet design royalty Akira Isogawa, designer du jour Brahman Perera, plus industry luminaries Adelaide Bragg, Charlotte Coote, Robyn Holt, Briellyn Turton, Kerrie-Ann Jones, Rebeka Morgan, James Treble, Lucy Feagins, Jen Bishop and more.

The 2024 Major Trends Forecast will be delivered by renowned industry stylist and Dulux Colour Forecast Bree Leech on Friday 14th July, followed by a Global Macro Forecast on New Ways of Living from Nia Pejsak, Advisory Director of International Trends Intelligence agency Stylus. Discover the international shifts which will impact consumer behaviour over the coming year.

Jamie Durie will be at the Gus* Modern stand
Australian design icon Jamie Durie will also be appearing at the Gus* Modern stand (F42) on Friday 14 July and Saturday 15 July, talking about sustainability and his upcoming design collaboration with Gus*. Jamie will also take part in the Future Ready Networking Session on Saturday 15 July (2.00pm), along with James Treble and Karie Soehardi.

Spotlight on circular design at the Green Design Hub
The Green Design Hub at Decor + Design will expand visitors’ worlds to the newest in sustainability, taking them on a journey of what it really looks like for the design industry. Beautifully curated by Karie Soehardi of Circular Design Thinking, the Hub will be completely carbon neutral with reusable componentry, showcasing innovative ways to create a truly circular economy with zero waste strategies.

From samples of the latest recycled materials to stunning sustainable products and furniture, visitors will be able to touch and feel the latest in green design. 2023 Green Design Hub contributors include Space Furniture, Enviro Hide, Cultivated by Cult Design, E9 Design, Hameland, Cosentino, AH Beard, Zepel Fabrics, ResiLoop and TRAKS Textile Recycling, who will be showcasing stylish products that are available to the industry right now.

Twenty years of VIVID Emerging Designer Awards
2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the VIVID Emerging Designer Awards, curated by Latitude and sponsored by Laminex, Dulux, Circa, Artichoke, Design Institute of Australia, Houzz and the Authentic Design Alliance.

VIVID is Australia’s most prestigious design awards program, celebrating emerging talent. Judged by a panel of prominent and respected industry figures, this highly anticipated industry platform is an important destination for designers and media at the show.
