Salvation Amy

Melbourne Fringe Salvation Amy - If you had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), you probably wouldn’t sign up for sorting through other people’s soil encrusted underwear in an op shop. But rising Aussie cabaret star Amy Bodossian did, and wrote a cabaret show about it.

In Salvation Amy, this Green Room Award nominee pushes her OCD aside, takes a deep breath and dives head first into the filth of humanity through original songs, spoken word, and wildly offbeat anecdotes.

“It is my greatest joy to share my stories with an audience- to uncover the laughter, the tears, the neurosis, the joy – all that it is to be human – together.” says Amy. “And what better place to do it than at the op shop, amongst the debris of humanity in all its glory!”

Directed by Merophie Carr, best known for her collaborations with international festival favourites Die Roten Punkte, Amy’s soulful vocals and kooky stories are beautifully underscored by David Seedsman on guitar, piano, and foot percussion.

With a career spanning 15 years in festivals across Australia, Amy Bodossian has built a dedicated following with insightful and provocative shows that are both hilarious and heart breaking. She is a spoken word cult legend, and has headlined all of Melbourne’s top poetry events.

She recently nabbed a role on ABC’s international TV hit Please Like Me, danced in lycra on Spicks & Specks, and has performed at festivals across Australia including Woodford Folk Festival, The Falls Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

“There isn’t a pigeon hole in existence that could possibly hold Amy Bodossian. No warning, no apologies…” – Finger Magazine
