Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre launches Membership Program to celebrate 21 years of theatre

Red-Stitch-2022-Grace-photo-Robert-BlackburnAs the company enters its twenty-first season, Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre has announced the launch of its Annual Membership program. The launch also coincides with the release of the first play of Red Stitch’s 2022 season; Grace by Australian playwright, Katy Warner.

Like most twenty-one year olds, Red Stitch is bold and adventurous, but its youthful, inquisitive and rebellious spirit walks a path paved by twenty-one years of ‘pure theatre’. The company’s reputation is founded on its long standing commitment to powerful acting, vital, world-class writing and intimate performance.

In 2022, Red Stitch will announce its program play-by-play, bringing audiences on an adventure of discovery as we progress through the year, and return to something approaching theatre ‘normal’.

The Annual Membership gives patrons access to pre-sale tickets, discount pricing, special events and much more. It also creates a badge of honour for the dedicated followers who commit to each season and ensure the company’s survival every year. The $80 Red Stitch Membership is now available.

Tickets are also on sale for Grace by award-winning playwright Katy Warner, directed by the acclaimed Sarah Goodes (former Associate Artistic Director at MTC and Resident Director at STC), and features Kate Cole, Jillian Murray and Mia Tuco.

Grace is a stunning contemporary play about family, womanhood and the universal power of fiction. Three women. Three generations. One long weekend in Copenhagen.

Emma has finally ‘made it’. She is about to receive the Hans Christian Award – the ‘Little Nobel Prize’ of children’s fiction. With her mother, Beth, by her side to share in the moment, Emma is ready to celebrate the pinnacle of her career in a luxury Copenhagen hotel.

But an unexpected visitor disrupts Emma’s plans and threatens to upend her future. In a land of fairytales, three women discover and rediscover the power of stories – those we tell ourselves and those who make us who we are.

Grace was developed through Red Stitch’s INK program. The INK program offers resources, structure and support to Australian playwrights through script developments, public readings and the expertise of the Red Stitch ensemble and associates.

“We’re longing to return to the stage and to our audiences, and Grace by Katy Warner is a perfect way to begin 2022,” said says Ella Caldwell, Artistic Director at Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre.

“Director Sarah Goodes and her team are creating an exquisite production that celebrates the power of storytelling with an intimacy that is unique to theatre. I can’t wait to welcome audiences back in our 21st anniversary year.”
