Imagine the greatest rock band of all time as a circus and (if your brain hasn’t exploded) you have Pants Down Circus – Rock. This new-age circus show for all ages will have its Melbourne premiere at Gasworks Arts Park.
Pants Down Circus – Rock is fresh off the back of a stellar national tour, that premiered at the Western Australia Circus Festival in January 2014. Inspired by classic rock such as: Aerosmith, AC/DC, Joan Jett, Queen, Metallica and Bon Jovi, the show then went on to enjoy sell-out crowds and critical acclaim at the 2014 Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festivals.
However it was constructed to have wide appeal; this is a show for all circus lovers, not just for the die-hard rock fans. This is the second show from independent Australian circus company, Pants Down Circus. The four-person troupe formed in 2011 to showcase their many individual and ensemble skills whilst taking themselves very un-seriously.
The group has been working in collaboration with Scott Maidment, the director of sensational Australian circus shows such as Cantina, Tom Tom Crew and Limbo. Under Maidment’s guidance, the young troupe has produced their best work yet. When face melting guitar solos are met with hard-core acrobatics the result is a circus rock show spectacular unlike any other.
