On the Couch with Zohar Spatz

Arts Review On the Couch Zohar SpatzWho is Zohar Spatz?
I am the Executive Producer for the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM).

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Think before I speak a bit more, I more often than not suffer from not having much of a filter.

Who inspires you and why?
My high school drama teacher recently passed away, Charles Slucki. After his death I realized what a huge impact he had on thousands of people… teachers are pretty incredible and if they can inspire you, their influence seems to never end.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Pay it forward!

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Keep it between us but it’s Mudjimba, one of the untouched tiny towns along the sunshine coast. It literally has one fish and chip shop, a surf lifesaving club and a bakery that makes a pretty awesome pie.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
GOMA is a no brainier and I know I am biased but nothing really beats a beer sitting on the deck of the Powerhouse staring out onto the beautiful river.

What are you currently reading?
Sadly I have 5 half read books sitting on my bedside table… not sure if I could actually say I was ‘reading’ any of them, more like scanning over the same chapter over again. My 1.5 year old isn’t conducive to quiet reading.

What are you currently listening to?
Fip FM… a random French radio station I discovered on my brother’s radio in Brighton that managed to sneak its way over the channel and onto the UK airwaves… continuous music, no ads and one of the best broadcast radio stations I have ever listened to.

Happiness is?
All the small things and not stressing about the big ones…

What does the future hold for you?
A weekend of fun with friends and family at WOMAD.
