On the Couch with Tyran Stig

Tyran-Stig-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Tyran Stig?
My name is Tyran Stig and I am a 26 year old living in Sydney with my partner and our 32 house plants.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Well I used to produce breakfast radio and I LOVED that job. Although it’s not a driving passion in my life, it was a marvellous job that I could happily go back to.

Who inspires you and why?
My parents have always been my biggest sources of inspiration. My dad has always shown me what it is to be a caring, kind, hardworking man, father and husband. And my mum has shown me what it means to protect the people you love and overcome any obstacle that you may face. She is nothing but love and light.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I believe you can make a difference individually with the choices and decisions you make every day. Eat less meat (go vegan!), be nice to people, help someone in need (even if it’s just opening a door for someone). You can help change the world by just making one person’s day better.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere that has sun, salt water and sand! I love summer and I am such a sucker for the beach. If I couldn’t go to the beach I would happily go back to Como, Italy. It is the most gorgeous little Italian town with the sweetest people.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
When they come to my hometown of Newcastle, I always take them on the scenic route which is a stretch of coastline with the most beautiful beaches. Followed by heading off to the famous eatery street, Darby St. It has flavour from all around the world so there are options galore! Newcastle is the most beautiful city so you cannot skip showing off the amazing scenery we have.

What are you currently reading?
I’ve just finished reading a book by Adam Silvera called They Both Die at the End, which was equally heartbreaking as it was heartwarming. I cried a lot. I’m currently in a play reading phase as well. The best one I’ve read recently is Bent by Martin Sherman. if you want to read the most raw and real story you’ll probably ever read, then read this play.

What are you currently listening to?
I’ve recently discovered the artist, Dayglow, his music is very funky and a good groove. Currently obsessed with his album fuzzybrain. And then of course I can’t go past my favourite gal Taylor Swift. She gets an album play at least once a day.

Happiness is?
Love. If I’m surrounded by the people I love, I am happy.

What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully a lifelong career in the theatre. I am completely obsessed with theatre and how it can transform lives, especially young lives. I know the feeling of sitting in the audience of a show and being so overwhelmed with joy that if I can give that to people by being on the stage, then I’d be content with my future.
