On the Couch with Tony Sheldon

Tony Sheldon AAR On the CouchWho is Tony Sheldon?
I’m not the right person to ask.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I’m a pretty good version of myself now. The past 15 years have been a process of elimination to get to this point.

Who inspires you and why?
Dancers. Their dedication, beauty and discipline fill me with awe. My dad was a dancer but he didn’t want me to have lessons and I’ve always regretted it.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I’m doing it. The healing power of the arts always astonishes me.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
A 4-star hotel with cable tv near a beach close to lots of shops and restaurants. All bases covered.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I live in NYC now so usually a cabaret venue or off-Broadway show they might not have heard about. I make a point of seeking out unusual one-off events.

What are you currently reading?
A biography of character actress Mary Wickes.

What are you currently listening to?
Sachal Vasandani, Karrin Allyson, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Jessica Molaskey.

Happiness is?
Being in PRISCILLA again!

What does the future hold for you?
Probably the same all-consuming panic and insecurity that has pervaded my past.

Tony stars as Bernadette in the 10th anniversary Australian tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert – The Musical, which officially opens at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on Tuesday 30 January, before touring to Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. For more information, visit: www.priscillathemusical.com.au for details.
