On the Couch with the Tuck Shop Ladies

Tuck Shop Ladies Rosie Burgess and Sam LohsWho are the Tuck Shop Ladies?
We’re a couple of not-so-lady-like ladies from the suburbs, who like to sing in harmony, play the ukulele and find things to laugh about.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Actually, we really love all the things we do with our lives at the moment, so we probably wouldn’t do much differently, except maybe swim with seals more often. That looks really fun.

Who inspires you and why?
We’ve got a few friends who are amazing and talented musicians and comedians, and they really inspire us. One of our favourite Melbourne based comedians is Jude Perl. Her musicality is second to none and she just has a totally hilarious take on life.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Be happier. Eat more broccoli. Smile at strangers on the train.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Sam likes to go anywhere tropical where she can lay down next to the water, occasionally flop into it for a snorkel, and look at the blue skies for hours. Rosie likes to go anywhere that involves hiking, running, biking, boating, and a good breakfast.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
We’ve started taking visiting friends to the Improv Conspiracy theatre to watch improv shows. It’s so much fun and quite interactive and most of our friends haven’t seen that kind of show before.

What are you currently reading?
Sam’s reading a Barbara Kingsolver novel (we love her) and Rosie is reading a book about how not to break up with your partner (very helpful for us)!

What are you currently listening to?
Sam loves listening to gruesome true crime podcasts. Rosie finds those too scary and is listening to an epic fantasy tale by Brandon Sanderson.

Happiness is?
Connection.

What does the future hold for you?
Ooo! Let’s look into the crystal ball. If only we knew! The best part about the future is that we have no idea what it will be so it’s a constant and wonderful surprise…
