On the Couch with Tegan Higginbotham

Tegan Higginbotham Arts Review On the CouchWho is Tegan Higginbotham?
Tegan Higginbotham is an actress, comedian, sports lover who also – for some unknown reason – has memorized all the words from the Australian Cast Recording of Jesus Christ Superstar and performs one women shows to her reluctant boyfriend on a regular basis.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I’d have worked less in my early twenties. Chances are, nothing important is going to happen career-wise in your early twenties. Let’s be honest here, most people SUCK in their early twenties. Just absolute disasters, you know? You might as well spend more time having fun and relaxing so that when the work does come in you’re energized as hell.

Who inspires you and why?
Fortunately, I get to collaborate with amazing people on a regular basis and find enthusiasm and professionalism highly contagious. At the moment I’m working solidly with Adam McKenzie and Liam Ryan, my fellow WATSON cohorts, and I find their sense of humor very, very inspiring.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
This question is overwhelming. So… much… to… be … fixed. So for now I’m just going to focus on bringing skivvies back. I honestly don’t see what everyone’s problem is with them!

Favorite holiday destination and why?
Look, I know I’m probably the first female to say this… but Paris. My heart lifts in that city, and the trip I took there with my boyfriend in 2015 was probably one of the best times of my life. Also… pastry.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
It’s all about food for me. Shop Ramen on Smith Street is a current happy place, as is Mr. Bond just off Chapel Street. La Luna is one of my favorite fancier restaurants, and I think the desserts at Entrecote are the absolute best. Cookie is another solid option, or that dumpling place where you can order off those little screens (I call it Robo-Dumps… but I have a feeling this isn’t the official name).

What are you currently reading?
The script for my new Comedy Festival show, WATSON in Go to Hell. I’ve gone over it about 1,500 times so aside from that, I only have the mental capacity to take on Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows as well right now.

What are you currently listening to?
Sur la piste de danse, Laure Briard.

Happiness is?
So many things. Good food, exciting work, watching my Footy team win, playing with my nieces and nephews, hanging out friends. I’ve also been Googling images of young Andy Garcia HEAPS lately so that must be making me pretty happy too I guess.

What does the future hold for you?
More Garcia.
