Who is Susie Dee?
A Living Legend – (according to Melbourne Fringe Festival) – ha!
What would you do differently from what you do now?
Not that much!
Who inspires you and why?
People who really try to put others before themselves- as an artist I often think I am too self-centered and need to do better in this world.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I hope each piece of work I create makes a little difference – regarding perspective, shining a light on moments/themes, creating unique experiences for audiences.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Love the sea, swimming in the vast ocean looking out to the horizon is always inspiring.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Love the Vic Market – the produce, the vibe, the history, and the doughnuts!
What are you currently reading?
Breathe by James Nestor and Walking Through Walls by Marina Abramovic.
What are you currently listening to?
A series of Podcasts, currently one called The Drop Out.
Happiness is?
Many things – being in a rehearsal room creating a new work with a bunch of excited creatives and cast. Hanging out with my family- dinners, walks, and talks. Swimming in water holes and the sea.
What does the future hold for you?
In this current unpredictable time, it is hard to remain positive about the arts industry. My life is creating/making new work and the ongoing battle for funding, the constant changing landscape and lack of solid support is tiring, but I can’t see myself kicking back yet. I will keep on trying to find some positivity – so guess I will keep on keeping on making work like I have done for the past 35 years…
