On the Couch with Sophie Montague

AAR Sophie Montague On the CouchWho is Sophie Montague?
I’m a 23-year-old performer with a real knack for DIY.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Honestly, nothing! I’m loving the work I’m doing and the people I’m surrounding myself with. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Who inspires you and why?
I get inspired by seeing shows. Seeing people do really incredible theatre that leaves its mark on me – makes me so excited to make some of my own.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
At this point, being my non-binary, gay self feels like a political statement. Choosing to be kind, giving people a little twinkle in their day.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Narrawallee on the South Coast in the off-season. It’s divine! The beaches are beautiful and it’s so easy to fully breath out and relax. It also holds lots of memories with my Grandparents.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
The beaches. Sydney’s beaches are so lovely and have some stunning coastal walks.

What are you currently reading?
Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell – it’s excellent!

What are you currently listening to?
Good Hang with Amy Poehler – also excellent!

Happiness is?
Good people – work that I love – family.

What does the future hold for you?
I don’t know. I won’t know until I get there – intrigued and excited to find out.
