Who is Sophie Easton?
I am a sister, wife, mother and friend. I love travelling the world and immersing myself into other cultures and lives. Opening my eyes and mind, I am inquisitive, passionate and empathic.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
I wouldn’t do anything different… I’ve been performing since I was 5, I’ve loved it all my life. I am passionate about Health and wellbeing too, as I also practice Chinese Medicine, I am an Acupuncturist. I am doing both the careers I love. Healing, wellness and entertainment.
Who inspires you and why?
Patch Adams. I was lucky to go on a trip with him and 100 clowns to Peru. Bringing colour, compassion and humour to those in difficult situations: prisons, orphanages, teen shelters, hospitals and areas of poverty etc. An incredible human, activist and clown.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I am always striving to make a difference in this crazy world. Entertainment that touches you, takes you away, uplifts, makes you think, changes you for even a moment. That’s why I became a performer, clown doctor and then studied Chinese Medicine so I would have tools to connect deeply and make change.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Hmmmm… One favourite? The world is full of wonderful places and I have been fortunate to travel to so many. An experience that is very profound for me is going to Burning Man. I was five months pregnant with my first, ten days in the Nevada Desert in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by gifts, art, music, self expression, freedom and dust storms.
What an incredible and inspiring experience. You really feel like you’re on another planet, and the generosity and creativity is astounding! I felt very proud of us humans when I was there, everyday my mind was blown. The care for each other, joy and celebration of humanity.
A holiday from bureaucracy, judgment, technology, normal, money and the expectations of society. A deep sense of love for one another and that anything is possible if you can only dream it… Lots of fun!
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I just moved back to Australia after 20 years, so I feel a bit like a visitor in my home town and recently sharing it with my hubby and kids, I would say, the Melbourne Museum.
I particularly love the first nations and taxidermy exhibits. I enjoy learning about Australia and its history and getting up close with these beautiful animals. I think visitors would too. The whole museum is very impressive and they have a wonderful indoor treehouse rope playground for children of all ages.
What are you currently reading?
Acupuncture is Like Noodles… hehe, fantastic book about Acupuncture and health care being accessible, affordable and uncomplicated. I love the sound of that!
What are you currently listening to?
I’ve recently been listening to Durand Jones and The Indications. I saw them live a couple weeks ago… Wow! incredibly soulful, powerful and inspiring. Today is James Brown!
Happiness is?
The Magpies song in the morning, the children’s laughter, a hot cuppa and the scent of a rose.
What does the future hold for you?
More adventures, watching my children grow, helping my husband immigrate to Australia, reconnecting with family and friends, opening my clinic and lots of surprises!
