On the Couch with Silvie Paladino

Silvie Paladino AAR On the CouchWho is Silvie Paladino?
I am Silvie Paladino, 52 years young, Australian-born, of Italian/ Yugoslav heritage. Wife of 25 years and mother to 2 adult children, and 2 fur babies, who happens to sing and act.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I always said I would’ve been a hairdresser if I wasn’t a singer. But recently, I would’ve loved to be a policewoman. Fight for good!

Who inspires you and why?
My husband Greg. He has unbelievable strength, mentally and spiritually. He is also my Hercules. He is the most loyal, loving, committed and understanding partner and I think he’s awesome.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would love to rid the world of homelessness. Everyone has the right to have a home and food on the table. It baffles me that, in 2023, there are families and individuals still living in poverty. I’m not sure what I would do to fix this issue but it’s my prayer to try.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Italy. I feel like I’m home when I’m there. I speak the language which helps. I adore the food. It is absolutely beautiful, and I love that I can go and visit family.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Wilson’s Promontory @bubbleretreats – Just spectacular. I only discovered it recently. Also, anywhere along the Mornington Peninsula. Great food and wineries.

What are you currently reading?
My Name is Barbra. I have been a huge fan of hers since I was a little girl; I also did a cabaret of her music back in 2001 – Silvie Sings Streisand. I’ve only just started it.

What are you currently listening to?
Christmas songs. I’m getting ready for the season ahead. Bublé, Mariah, Streisand, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. A real variety of styles.

Happiness is?
My family, peace, love, good health and of course God. God is at the centre of it all.

What does the future hold for you?
Who knows! Can only take like one day at a time. After losing too many family and friends recently, I try not to focus on what’s ahead. Living for today.
