Who is Seth Drury?
Actor. Singer. Lord of the Rings nerd.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
Differently to what I do now? I have always dreamed of being an airline pilot or a Merman in some rich person’s private aquarium.
Who inspires you and why?
On Stage? The Golden Age performers. They show such class, ease and commitment to their craft that I strive to exude the same qualities as a performer. My singing teacher Adam Wood inspires me too. So I would say The Golden Age of Broadway, Adam Wood and my cat Poppy.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Continue to show kindness. Kindness doesn’t cost much yet it can have such a long lasting ripple effect on others. I think being kind makes a difference in such an unkind world.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
I am going to have to say New York City. The hustle and bustle and creative vibes I get when walking the streets has me coming back for more year after year. In saying this, I would love to explore more of the world!
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would take my friends to as many local cafés that have an amazing brunch spread. I’d then take them to a museum or gallery, a picnic in the park and then a show in the evening followed by cheese and wine at some swanky rooftop bar. But then I remember I’m an artist and that itinerary has quite the price tag.
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Tolkien’s Unfinished Tales – which has me enthralled. Middle Earth history is certainly my area of expertise.
What are you currently listening to?
I am currently listening to the revival recording of Carousel with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella up next. Between these two cast recordings, I listen to a lot of Matt Corby, Adele, Vera Blue, Sara Bareilles, Jewel and Ben Abrahams.
Happiness is?
Happiness is a constant in my life. Regardless of circumstance my internal happiness is unaltered.
What does the future hold for you?
A show called On Broadway at Chapel off Chapel! Beyond that, hopefully many more shows, lots of travel, food, friends and a few more cats.
