Who is Scott Pokorny?
I am an ex-ballet dancer and now the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Scimm. Dance – a multifaceted contemporary dance company.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
If I didn’t forge a path in the arts, I would have loved to work in either the fashion or journalism industries!
Who inspires you and why?
I am incredibly inspired by my inner circle of friends and family. My mother was a professional ballet dancer, my father worked in television and most of my friends work in the creative arts sectors. I have grown up in a very creative bubble and take inspiration from all these incredible people in my life!
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would love to keep pushing the idea of ‘ballet with no boundaries’. My choreography is always inspired from a technical, classical base and I love to push the boundaries to shake the more ‘classic constraints’ of ballet and to make it accessible to a broader audience!
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Thailand! I recently came back from a trip there and absolutely fell in love with the country. It has all the best things rolled into one – great weather, amazing food, shopping, bustling cities and great nightlife.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Melbourne has such an amazing food and night life. I would definitely take them to my favourite pub, The Flying Duck, and would definitely take them out on a night on the town.

Britney Spears’ Memoir – The Woman in Me.
What are you currently listening to?
I’ve recently been listening to a resurgence of Jojo – one of my favourite artists from when I was a child!
Happiness is?
Happiness is in the home! Having a nice home space to relax and unwind is where I find bliss.
What does the future hold for you?
I would like to continue to branch our creatively and choreographically with other artists. The Capricorn in me also is hell bent on making my business into a successful empire and I’m so excited to see where we can take Scimm. Dance in the future.
