On the Couch with Rosie Dennis

Rosie-Dennis-photo-by-Artwork-AgencyWho is Rosie Dennis?
Artistic Director, Bleach* Festival on the Gold Coast – which runs 12 – 22 November 2020.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I don’t think I’d do anything differently as I wouldn’t be where I am now – personally and professionally.

Who inspires you and why?
There’s lots of people I admire and learn from, however, the people I am most inspired by are those that are self-determined, driven by social equality, focused on the long game, and run their own race.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I’m in a support of a universal basic income.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Now that I live regionally, I absolutely LOVE going back to Sydney. And when it’s not Sydney, I’ll take New York any day.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
We take out friends (usually on pushbike) to a little village called Hastings Point. It’s about 2km from where we live. There’s an extraordinary headland and you can literally sit for hours anytime of the year and watch the waves crash against the rocks for hours.

What are you currently reading?
Mostly music, and emails. I’m hoping to get stuck into a few good books over the summer.

What are you currently listening to?
This week I’m listening to music from our  program for the Festival. Non-festival music is the Black Keys, Amy Winehouse and the Eurythmics on high rotation.

Happiness is?
Listening to my 5 year old daughter practice her reading.

What does the future hold for you?
Not sure; but I’m open to what the next adventure might be and where. What I do know, is there will be a garden, most likely chooks and my family.
