On the Couch with Philip Quast

AAR-Philip-Quast-photo-by-Richard-RobertsWho is Philip Quast?
Sometimes I wish I knew. I know he wants a quiet life.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Something physically creative but not necessarily acting. Grow orchids,  be a carpenter (I’d love to make Shaker furniture) be a fly maker (fishing flies) you get my drift.

Who inspires you and why?
Any craftsman. I’m obsessed with Youtube videos of how to make things. I admire anything that involves physical problem solving.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I’d get rid of all private schools. I think two tier education creates all our social problems. Including prisons.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
‘Holidays’ for an actor means you’re unemployed. I can’t really conceive of it but wherever it is I’d love to be out at sea on my boat.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
They would come to my house so I can cook for them.

What are you currently reading?
The diaries of Robert Falcon Scott.

What are you currently listening to?
My mantra twice a day.

Happiness is?
Peace and quiet… being out at sea alone on my boat. Time disappears and my mind is kept busy.

What does the future hold for you?
Don’t know. It’s the future but it will involve ageing.
