Who is Peter Cook?
An actor, writer, and educator about to perform his one man show Breaking the Castle at QPAC.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
Be kinder to myself and try and enjoy the process more. We are never happy when we reach whatever it is we are chasing and always want more, so it really is about making the most of the journey, it’s something I need to work on – enjoying life.
Who inspires you and why?
My director, Leah Purcell is an inspiring person. She is an actor, writer, producer and director and just flows with creativity. She is also some one who lives in their truth and is always herself. Growing up it was Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and I’d say Marlon Brando is probably the actor that I kind of see as a cut above anyone else.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Hopefully I am making a difference through Breaking the Castle. I’d like to keep making a difference through my art and what I do, theatre shouldn’t just be entertaining – it should strive to change an audience.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere with a long stretch of beach and not many people around – at the moment Fingal Head in NSW is my favourite for that exact reason.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
In Sydney where I live, the coastal walk between Bondi and Coogee.
What are you currently reading?
I just finished The Prettiest Horse in the Glue Factory by Corey White.
What are you currently listening to?
Nothing really, I should listen to more music, but I’m listening to a lot of meditation guides on YouTube.
Happiness is?
Being on stage. Being at peace within yourself.
What does the future hold for you?
All my dreams coming true.
