On the Couch with Olive Weeks

Olive Weeks AAR On the CouchWho is Olive Weeks?
A Writer and Director of A Play About Ivy, that is really About June.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I would be a botanist. Or a florist. Or both. If possible.

Who inspires you and why?
Kae Tempest. I read some of ‘On Connection’ recently and I loved it. I am inspired by the generous honesty in their writing, and the varied types of work they move between as a creator and performer.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Um. Start using my keep cup again? That will solve climate-change? Right? Um. This question is very big and hard to answer. There is a lot of difference I would want to make in this world…

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere regional or along the coast in Victoria. The air is fresher and calmer but it’s only a 1 – 2-hour drive away.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would take them to see a film at Nova Cinema. Because it is my favourite cinema and the cherry ripe choc tops there are yum. And we could go get pasta at DOC after or before.

What are you currently reading?
What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver.

What are you currently listening to?
Taylor Swift. Only Taylor Swift. Constantly.

Happiness is?
Taylor Swift.

What does the future hold for you?
Happiness? I hope… Career wise I hope to keep being a part of creative projects that make me excited and make my heart warm. To keep making and nurturing fulfilling connections with other creatives. And to have plenty of time spent in places with lots of trees, lots of calm and lots of love.
