On the Couch with Matilda Moran

Matilda-Moran-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Matilda Moran?
Matilda Moran is vertically gifted, overly enthusiastic and on a 1000 day Duolingo streak.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
If I were to do one thing differently, I would take a lot more dance classes growing up! To be honest, I wouldn’t change anything right now though, life is pretty darn fabulous! I’m living my dream performing as Gabrielle in Cinderella, then going home each day to my incredible husband (and doggo) in a home we own together, I don’t think life gets much better than this!

Who inspires you and why?
A lot of people have inspired me – my Mum and Dad, who gave me my love for musical theatre and encouraged me to follow my dreams. My friends, who inspire me to keep working hard as we watch each other grow and celebrate each others’ success. All the dedicated, hard working actors I’ve watched and admired growing up. And my husband, who supports me through the ups and downs of this crazy life – no matter what lines I make him read with me.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
The main theme of Cinderella is kindness – and kindness is such an easy way to make a difference. Our director spoke to us about how kindness involves empathy, intention and braveness. If we use these qualities to bring the best out in ourselves and those around us, we put just a little more magic into the world.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Thailand or Vietnam – adventures, beaches and delicious curry. Sold.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
My favourite place to take Sydney visitors is to Manly on the ferry. Seeing all the famous landmarks by water, then having a swim and fish and chips on the beach is heaven. There’s also a hidden cave there where I got engaged, so it’s a special place for me!

What are you currently reading?
Harry Potter (for the third or fourth time. Yes I am a nerd)

What are you currently listening to?
I am currently listening to my dog howling while I practice singing!

Happiness is?
Happiness is waiting in the wings and hearing the excited hubbub of the audience just before the Overture begins. Or a picnic with treats and all my friends by the water on a sunny day. Both!

What does the future hold for you?
I hope the future holds performing in many more exciting shows like this one! And maybe getting a cat.
