On the Couch with Marcia Hines

Marcia Hines Arts Review On the CouchWho is Marcia Hines?
A Diva, a legend, a mother, a household name, a survivor of the many changes that have swept through the Australian music industry over the past 40 years. A woman constantly seeking to reinvent herself.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Nothing really, life is sweet!

Who inspires you and why?
I think that people who don’t take no for an answer and people who beat the odds inspire my people, like my mom.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I’d like to have enough money to set up programs that allow children not to go hungry around the world, and to have them educated about how to feed themselves.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Vancouver in the winter. Love the city and love the vibe of the place – not to mention the night skiing.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
Depends on where I am. I’d have to say the Opera House, the botanical gardens and the Gap where the ‘heads’ are in Vaucluse.

What are you currently reading?
As much Jackie Collins as possible.

What are you currently listening to?
Sam Smith and Baby Face.

Happiness is?
Being at peace and surrounded by the people who love you and who you love.

What does the future hold for you?
Only God knows the answer to that question!

Marcia is currently starring in the critically-acclaimed Velvet at the Adelaide Fringe (until 13 March), before touring to Melbourne (23 March – 17 April) and Brisbane (20 – 24 April). For more information, visit: www.velvettheshow.com for details.
