Katie-Weston-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Katie Weston?
Katie Weston is a Melbourne based singer, actor, musician and composer. She gigs around the country as a vocalist and keyboardist, she composes exciting new Australian musical theatre works, she’s a studio session singer and song-writer, she’s recently starred in internationally acclaimed short film Suddenly and is a Green Room Award nominated musical director and award-winning actress.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Not much. The one thing that sticks out to me would be to not waste time with people and endeavours that don’t serve you and your happiness.

Who inspires you and why?
As a vocalist/musician: Tori Amos, Neil Finn, Radiohead, Brandon Boyd, Ella Fitzgerald, Freddie Mercury, Annie Lennox and of course, Alanis Morissette. As an actor/compose: outstanding Australian actor/singer-creatives who are just blazing new pathways like Eddie Perfect, Virginia Gay and Tim Minchin. As a human: my family and my dog. Dogs are the best kind of people.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Keep sharing, spreading and support the arts.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Tulum in the Mexican Caribbean. The most perfect beach I’ve sat on so far.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’d take them to the Chapel Street Precinct: Theatre (Chapel Off Chapel), Food (Mr Miyagi) and Bars (Holy Grail & LaLa Land) and then we’d switch sides to the Brunswick Street Precinct: Live Music (The Night Cat, The Evelyn and Bar Open) and Rooftop Bars (Naked For Satan); and then let both precincts fight for their love!

What are you currently reading?
The Three Body Problem trilogy by Chinese writer Liu Cixin. So, so good.

What are you currently listening to?
Jamie Woon. British singer-songwriter. Album: Mirrorwriting. Song: Night Air.

Happiness is?
Hot jam donuts from the food trucks at the back of the Sydney Myer Music Bowl on an autumn night at a free MSO concert. And my dog.

What does the future hold for you?
Excitement, challenges, creation, opportunities, discoveries, growth, love, mindfulness, conquests and no pandemic. Please.
