Who is Jules Billington?
A trans-masc theatre maker, perpetually inspired by my childhood heroes such as Aladdin, Atreyu, Mowgli and Xena.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
I wouldn’t change a thang!
Who inspires you and why?
Artists who are brave enough to go against the ‘norm’ or who have trail-blazed: the singer Aurora, Cynthia Erivo, and Alok!
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Therapy – and I do! The more I steady myself, the better, kinder, more empathetic and generous I can be to other people. And the industry is too small for d***heads.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Currently got my sights set on Japan!
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Taronga Zoo – The animals, the view, the wholesome goodness. Also, otters are the cutest.
What are you currently reading?
Just finished Dylin Hardcastle’s incredible queer fiction A Language Of Limbs. I also can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Zoe Terakes’ EROS.
What are you currently listening to?
Cowboy themed playlists on never ending repeat! I’m a country music convert now!
Happiness is?
Diving into the ocean wearing only boardshorts – trans euphoria!
What does the future hold for you?
A future that’s never looked brighter!
Jules can be seen in Charlie Josephine’s Cowbois – which will be presented by Siren Theatre Co at the Seymour Centre from 20 November – 13 December 2025. For more information, visit: www.seymourcentre.com for details.
