On the Couch with Jono Darby

Jono Darby AAR On the CouchWho is Jono Darby?
A weird kid playing make believe in his room who didn’t grow out of it. Someone told me you could make money doing it as a career… I’m starting to think that I was lied to.

What would you do differently from what you’re doing now?
If I wasn’t acting and performing, I’d probably move into teaching. I love communicating and exploring ideas. And teaching feels like an accessible way to have a positive impact on the future.

Who inspires you and why?
Volk – Australian Mixed Martial Arts legend Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski. The character and strength of spirit he has shown throughout his career, being knocked down and picking himself back up when the world counted him out… I draw a lot of inspiration from him.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Take on as much responsibility as I can bear for the benefit of my family, my community and the world at large. And do so with grace and love, even if it kills me.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Rome. I’ve never been but desperately want to go and look at all that old stuff.

When friends come to town, what attraction do you take them to and why?
To my house so they can see my cat. He doesn’t care for them, but they should pay their respects.

What are you currently reading?
Dante’s Inferno. I find it fascinating to read some of the earliest imagery that brought the concept of a physical place of torment to the world. And Dante’s palpable bitterness is quite funny to me.

What are you currently listening to?
NaddPod – a Dungeons & Dragons podcast with several improv comedians. Love D&D.

Happiness is?
Going to bed at night contented with your actions from the day.

What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully more opportunities to perform. Likely marriage and children. Certainly death.
