Jing-Xuan-Chan-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Jing-Xuan Chan?
Jing-Xuan is an actor born in Hong Kong, raised on Gadigal lands, now living on Wurundjeri lands. She is a travel, food, and cat lover!

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I would try not to take on too many things at the one time.

Who inspires you and why?
My grandmother – she just turned 100 this year and is still unstoppable and so much fun!

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Practice more patience and kindness.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I loved visiting Italy – good food, good people, rich culture and history. Roman Holiday is one of my favourite films, and it was such a treat getting to see landmarks like the Trevi Fountain up close!

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Peninsula Hot Springs. Such a stunning spot – so beautiful and relaxing.

What are you currently reading?
The Mother Wound by Amani Haydar.

What are you currently listening to?
I love a good podcast and at the moment I’m really enjoying listening to Where Should We Begin? hosted by renowned Belgian therapist Esther Perel.

Happiness is?
Curling up with a good book, a cup of tea and my cat!

What does the future hold for you?
What I’m excited about in the near future is our upcoming production of ‘Emilia’ with Essential Theatre. It’s been such a delightful creative process with the most playful, warm and energetic team. There are so many belly laughs and deeply moving moments in this special show and I can’t wait to share it with Melbourne and Canberra audiences soon!

Jing-Xuan Chan can be seen in the Australian premiere of EMILIA – a triple Olivier Award-winning play by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm at Arts Centre Melbourne from 10 November 2022. For more information, visit: www.artscentremelbourne.com.au for details.
