Who is Javon King?
A former athlete turned actor/singer originally from the United States but now residing in Melbourne!
What would you do differently from what you do now?
I’m a massive medical nerd, so if I wasn’t performing, I would be in medicine. I think either as a nurse or a surgeon.
Who inspires you and why?
My parents are my biggest inspiration, they have supported me unconditionally through every endeavour I’ve wanted to achieve in life. Besides them, people like Billy Porter, Beyoncé, and Audra McDonald for the continued success after many years doing their respective careers.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I hope to inspire young kids to strive for their craziest and wildest dreams and be okay with failure, knowing that it will only make you stronger and want that thing even more.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Tokyo!! I’ve been lucky to have travelled to Tokyo twice in my life. I’m absolutely obsessed with Japanese culture, food, and fashion and its also one of the most beautiful places in the world.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
There’s so many things to do in Melbourne, which is why I love it so much. I take my friends to my favourite coffee spot (Patricia’s), Arbory Afloat during the warmer months, and go see some live music somewhere.
What are you currently reading?
Billy Porter’s memoir Unprotected. I’m half way through and its such a great read.
What are you currently listening to?
All of Beyonce’s music discography but currently her latest album Cowboy Carter has a very tight vise grip on me.
Happiness is?
Happiness is whatever you want it to be. Happiness for me is getting the ability to do what I love for a living and hopefully make someone’s day a little bit better or inspire someone to achieve something they’ve always wanted to do.
What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully many years of joy, happiness, and laughter with all the people I love!
