On the Couch with Jake Speer

Hayes Theatre Jake Speer AAR OTCWho is Jake Speer?
He’s a country boy at heart living out his childhood dream.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I would probably try and be a little more patient. I’m in a bit of a rush to get somewhere.

Who inspires you and why?
People who have made a life doing what they love. I’ve been lucky to meet a few.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Make more people laugh.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Nepal. Standing next to the tallest mountains in the world is like nothing else. It’s where I proposed to my fiancé. I’ve met people there that I will never forget.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’m a sucker for a good cafe but if we’ve got a bit more time, the Blue Mountains is where I love taking people. A few nights trekking and camping through the Megalong is just the best.

What are you currently reading?
Catch Me if You Can by Frank W. Abagnale and Stan Redding would be the most recently thing I’ve read.

What are you currently listening to?
I recently discover Max Richter – an incredible composer – so I keep sifting through his film scores for Mary Queen of Scots and Hostiles.

Happiness is?
Time with friends and family.

What does the future hold for you?
Who knows but I’ll do my best to be ready for it.

Jake is currently starring in Catch Me If You Can at the Hayes Theatre until 18 August 2019. For more information, visit: www.hayestheatre.com.au for details.
