On the Couch with Jack Chambers

Jack Chambers Arts Review On the Couch photo by Brian GeachWho is Jack Chambers?
I am a Dancer, Singer, Actor, Choreographer, Son, Brother, Uncle & Milo lover.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
If we are talking in regards to career, I have no idea! Genuinely, I don’t ever remember not wanting to be on stage, or a part of the arts. It’s always been on the cards, so I am very grateful that it was an achievable path for me.

Who inspires you and why?
Many people throughout my life inspire me. But I’ll make special mention of my parents. They are both good, hardworking people in both their careers and as parents. they inspire me to be who I am, and to pursue my passions.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would make common sense actually common.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Sunshine Coast. My family has a place up on a cliff point. Its beautiful up there, and quite peaceful. I consider myself a city person, but when life has been busy and chaotic, a trip up to the Sunny coast – the peace and quiet and being right beside the ocean is just the best way to unwind and turn off.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Well depends on which town I am in. If it’s Brisbane (hometown) I would drive north to our family coast house.

What are you currently reading?
Unfortunately I am not the reading type. I would like to be, because it looks like a fabulous way to unwind and detach from your own reality for a bit. But I tend to be a passive reader, and can read a whole 2 pages and then find I need to stop and reread it, because my mind completely wandered off and took nothing in.

What are you currently listening to?
I listen to a mixed bag of artists. I am a lover of most types of music. I create my own playlist of goodies. It all depends on my mood. I find Alt J creates great music to unwind to and escape, and Earth Wind & Fire is perfect for a pick me up!

Happiness is?
Snuggling on the couch on a rainy day.

What does the future hold for you?
My ultimate goal is to head back to NYC on a green card. So that I can work in NYC without restrictions. There is potential touring next year though, with my family dance company, Raw Dance Company in a production I co-created called Untapped – which recently just had an Off-Broadway season in NYC, and won best dance show at the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2016. But the not knowing, is part of what I find exciting about this industry sometimes, you never know whats around the corner, and how quickly your plans can change.

Jack will be appearing as Cosmo Brown in the Australian Tour of Singin’ in the Rain, which opens at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on 14 May 2016. For more information, visit: www.singin.com.au for details.
