What would you do differently to what you do now?
I would worry less and read more.

Who inspires you and why?
Sutton Foster, because she’s an immaculate performer, brave and still lovely as heck.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Lead by example. Treat people with respect and decency and hopefully they pass it on to someone else.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
New York. It’s got everything I like in the world. Theatre, interesting people, beautiful art galleries and top Mexican food. I’ve also always wanted to go to Peru.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
I always take my friends to Tamarama. It’s hard for them to argue that there’s a better city in Australian when they’re at that heavenly beach.

What are you currently reading?
The Grey Gardens Libretto and Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.

What are you currently listening to?
Billie Holliday

Happiness is?
Moving forward.

What does the future hold for you?
Whatever I can concoct! Hopefully a lot of moving forward which means a lot of happiness.

Hilary Cole is originally from Melbourne and performed with the Victorian Youth Opera and YABC for a number of years before beginning formal training in Musical Theatre at Ballarat’s Arts Academy.

After moving to Sydney in 2013, Hilary landed the titular role of Carrie in Squabbalogics’s Carrie the Musical, and was recently seen in Squabbalogic’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone as Janet Van de Graff.
