On the Couch with Hem Tiwary

MFF-Andha-Yug-Hem-TiwaryWho is Hem Tiwary?
Born and completed studies in a beautiful village in rural India, I never had exposure to theatre and stage in my growing up years. After moving to the capital city, I forever fell in love with theatre. We didn’t have, so to say, any actor or writer in our family, but now I see that art was always there.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Follow my passion more than ever. I feel all my life I have lived so far is not mine and want to make every second of it really fulfilling.

Who inspires you and why?
My grandfather has been my inspiration since my childhood days. I also equally admire my parents and wish I could be as strong as they are.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Help people follow their passion, especially in the rural part of India where I was born.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Honestly in most of my holidays I go back to my birthplace and see my parents. I strongly feel like going back home each time brings me closer to find my true self.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would take my friends to the You Yangs mountain range even if they don’t want to go? It is closer to where I live and a place full of big rocks, hiking and running here gives me unlimited inner peace.

What are you currently reading?
Ghumakkad Shastra – Book by Rahul Sankrityayan. Rahul was one of the most widely travelled scholars of India, spending forty-five years of his life on travels away from his home and I love reading everything he has written.

What are you currently listening to?
Ali Sethi & Noah Georgeson new album – Paniya. Listen to Raat Bhar & Kaase Kahu on loop.

Happiness is?
Acting on Stage.

What does the future hold for you?
I don’t know!
